In our second year we were filled with great expectations after last year’s very successful First Annual Chair Luge, and this year didn’t disappoint. The weather was warmer, the crowd was bigger and we had more contestants than the previous. We also learned a few things from last year and tried a few new ideas.

First we changed the name… again. It was first called the Mayor’s Chair Luge Chal-lenge, then The Great Chair Luge and now it is called and for the last time The Gardner Chair Luge… how come we didn’t come up with that to begin with?

Second, we increased the first place cash prize from $100 to $200… you would think that’s a good thing but in the end it made it much more competitive, and no one likes to lose as we found out.

Third, we built a stage and had Alan stand on top and announce the race order. Fourth, since we had more teams we put more luges in each heat and in the end had more crashes.

Finally, we gave out t-shirts to both contestants instead of one and tried to make sure all rules of the race were upheld by the contestants.
